We Need a Machinist!

POSITION: Machinist / Machine Builder

REQUIRMENTS:

·         Ability to read and interpret blueprints (Metric or English units)

·         Understanding of tolerances and tolerance stack up

·         Strong working knowledge of machine shop mathematics

·         Setup and operate manual Mills, Lathes, & Grinders

·         Use micrometers, calipers,  and various other precision measurement devices

·         Understanding of materials, cutting tools, and speeds and feeds.

·         Understands urgency and deadline requirements

·         Ability to communicate well with designers, engineers, and customers

·         Stand and operate / build machines for an 8 hour day

·         Occasionally lift up to 50lbs.

·         Ability to perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner

·         Experience with mechanical / electrical assembly and troubleshooting

·         Build and wire machines per drawings and documentation

·         Maintain a professional disposition

·         Must be able to bend, kneel, squat, and crawl over or through machines as required during the assembly process

·         Estimated 70% machinist 30% assembly

·         Occasional travel will be required

PREFERED EXPERIENCE:

·         Conversational CNC Programming

·         Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles (especially SMED)

·         Working knowledge of GD&T

·         Experience in a Low Volume – High Mix machining environment (0-10pcs)

·         A successful candidate should possess basic machinist and hand tools

PREFERRED EDUCATION:  2 year college degree or 3 years minimum work experience.

The Controls Engineer position requires a passionate individual who demonstrates innovative ideas, takes ownership for project work, and exhibits a high level of personal leadership. Additionally, the Controls Engineer should have creative problem solving skills and patience to evaluate and troubleshoot process and control system performance. The ideal candidate would have experience in electrical design and programming systems. A Controls Engineer is expected to create electrical prints and related documentation to support the electrical integration of mechanical equipment for the shop floor. Following is a list of essential duties and responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
• System design
• Specification preparation
• PLC programming
• HMI programming
• SCADA programming and configuration
• Shop debug
• Simulation and testing of programs
• Start-up assistance at customer sites
• Panel design and layout
• Manage project documentation
• BOM creation
 
Preferred Education and Experience: BS Engineering degree 3+ years experience in similar discipline. Experience with the following: wiring schematics, piping and instrumentations diagrams (mainly electrical/pneumatics), Auto-CAD (electrical knowledge), Inventor or related 3D software, comprehension of electrical and mechanical prints (Metric and English Standard), Electrical Engineering (confirms systems and components capabilities), AC/DC power circuits, and maintaining project responsibilities and timing

Lance Price Moves to AE's Business Development Team

 Starting March 25, 2013 AE customers will have another great resource to work with for project needs.  Lance Price, formerly part of Automation Engineering's Controls group, is joining Todd Tsiguloff and Matt Mummert in the Sales/Business Development Group.  Lance's strong background in Electrical Engineering and overall automated systems/testing knowledge, along with his strong inter-personal skills, make him a natural fit for the position.   We have not doubt that all of our customers will enjoy working with Lance as much as we do!

·         Daily production tracking

·         Stand and operate machines for an 8 hour day

·         Occasionally lift up to 50lbs.

·         Ability to perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner

·         Experience in setup & operation of CNC mills

PREFERED EXPERIENCE:

·         CNC Programming

·         Conversational CNC Programming

·         CNC Milling

·         Operation of a CMM

·         Machine Assembly

·         Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles (especially SMED)

·         Working knowledge of GD&T

·         Experience in a Low Volume – High Mix machining environment (0-10pcs)

·         A successful candidate should possess basic machinist tools

Jon Osborn Joins AE's Mechanical Engineering Group

 Automation Engineering has officially made Jon Osborn a permanent team member.  Previously, Jon had been working with AE on a contract basis.  When the opportunity arose for the two parties to discuss a more permanaent arrangement, handshakes were given and a deal was struck.  

Jon brings 13 years of design experience along with a great attitude.  He's proficient in Advanced Inventor and possesses Vault training.  His Six Sigma Black Belt Certification indicates he's a proven problem solver and he's trained in Project Management.

On a personal note, Jon enjoys music very much.  He plays guitar, bass and keys.  He also enjoys playing video games with his kids, bike riding and Worship Leading.

AE is confident that Jon will do a great job understanding our customer's needs and designing systems that will eliminate their pains.

 


AE Bolsters its Controls Engineering Department

Automation Engineering has upgraded its Controls Engineering talent pool by adding Paul Delno and Nick Irwin to the team.  Both will be heavily involved in projects slated to ship to customers near the end of the year.

Paul attended North West State Community College specializing in Automation and Controls.  Prior to joining AE, he we was working at ArcerlorMittal Tailored Blanks where he was directly responsible for maintaining all PLC and robot programs as well as providing technical support for Satellite Plants.  Paul currently resides in Bryan, OH.

Nick Irwin earned a Bachelor's Degree from ITT Technical Institue in Indianapolis, IN in the field of Electronics Engineering Technology.  He brings with him 12 years of automotive industry experience where he filled various roles which included Research & Development, Product Engineering, Quality and Program Management.  When he's not working, Nick can be found gaming online or tinkering in his basement on some type of vintage stereo repair or home theater project.

Automation Engineering Welcomes Cameron Hummel to the Team

 AE is pleased to announce that Cameron Hummel has decided to join our organization.  He has accepted the role of Sales Engineer and will be operating out of Fishers, IN.  His primary goal will be to help grow AE's market presence in Southern Indiana and we are pleased to have him.  Cam is a Rose-Hulman alum and has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering along with 5 years of Sales and Controls/Mechanical Engineering experience.  He also enjoys long walks on the beach, sunsets, and eating cupcakes...with his wife and daughter.  Welcome aboard Cam!


Cary Ragan Joins the AE Team

AE would like to extend a warm welcome to Cary Ragan.  He will be filling the role of Machine Shop Manager and will be very busy working to integrate vaious pieces of machining equipment into our facility.  Cary is a graduate of Ferris State University and has a B.A. in Product Design Engineering Technology.  He is also a member of the American Gear Manufacturers Association.

Automation Engeineering is proud to announce the hiring of Bryce Sims as a Mechanical Engineer.  Sims is a graduate of Trine University with a degreein Design Engineering Technology.  He is also a member of ASME (American Society OfMechanical Engineers).  While at Trine, Sims also played Football.  He is from Columbia City. 

Sims will play an important role at AE designing mechanical products and systems by developing and testing specifications and methods.
